I have had success with just importing everything at once about 99% of the time, but that 1% could be a big difference for some. I only put in steps 3 and 4 to make extra sure that everything goes well. Using this method, I've completely eliminated all my non-sensical errors and crashing. Now you have a version of your project that is entirely L9 friendly and has been re-made using all L9 workflow tools. You may want to do this separate from your I/O assignments, but it shouldn't matter.ĥ- Save again. Don't want to save over it, just make a new "L9-friendly" version.Ĥ- Close L9, re-open it and use Selective Track Import to import all of your plugs and settings. Choose tracks only, we'll import the plugs settings in a bit.ģ- Save the project as something new, can be anything as long as it's at least one letter different from your L8 project. I'm no genius, so I don't know why this is the case, but follow these steps and you should see these problems disappear ġ- Open Logic 9, open a new blank project or one of your templates as long as it doesn't have any plug-ins already included.Ģ- Use Selective Track Import to import all of your audio. I've found that when I follow the ahead steps, I get none of these errors. Selectively import tracks and settings from old projects. There is the new "Selective Track Import" feature that allows you to do just that. Then I sat down to write a review of Logic 9's new features and while I was exploring, I found my solution. Saw on the forums that iFreeMem was working for people.

Was told by Apple that I needed more RAM, upgraded from 2 to 4GB. Thought it was my interface, bought a new expensive one. not literally, but almost.įirst, I replaced my HD to a 7200rpm one. It was killing my sessions and making me want to kill an Apple executive.

The errors ranged from the "low memory" one you're having, to "disk too slow", to "audio overload" even in situations like yours where there was a minimum of plug-ins and software instruments. It's a little weird, but some of Logic 9's new features are starting to make sense.Īll my projects from L8 were causing crashes and errors when opened directly in L9. I've found a solution for this problem that seems to work for a lot of scenarios. Eventually Logic will run out of usable RAM even if you're just loading plugins, VI's for testing purposes.+ From reading a few other posts it looks like Logic is not freeing up memory after loading/unloading plugs, VI's. some Logic 8 projects are just not going to fit.

Version 9 is going to have less available free RAM (within the program), which means. +While v8 had a 3.4 - 3.7GB limit for loading samples, VI's Plugins.etc. I think pancenter explained it well in this thread: Meanwhile, 8.0.2 works ok for me and I can work (mostly) trouble-free.

I've given up on LP9 for now - some nice new featues, but reliability is my #1 concern - so I'll cross my fingers and wait for an update hoping this, and other issues, are fixed. This is with projects created, and running perfectly fine, in LP8.0.2 on the _same machine._

When accompanied by "Logic will quit now" and then can't save causing a freeze. But the warning is not an issue, it is a warning. You can trigger that with ONE plugin, if you use one that requires A LOT of memory.

Oh Honey, can I see your driver's license again? : ) (Now, if I could only remember where I put those darn keys and what her name is. My wife of 10 years and I are going out so I'll call it quits. OK, enough ranting hopefully someone at Logic is beavering away at these problems as we speak. And this is just the beginning of a long list of complaints about this "upgrade" so don't get me started. I realize that I'm forgetting where I put my keys, my wife's name on occasion, and if I remembered to take my medication (obviously not!) but how does Logic know that? So I guess it means something else. I'm working on a project that has 3 MIDI files and all my plugins (all 2 of them) are running off my UAD-2 card and I'm getting the error message that says I'm getting low on memory. However, I think Logic 9 is the most bug-ridden version yet. But, over the years, like good wine, it improved and I was pretty happy with Logic 8 and Leopard.

What's this, 1982? Am I using OS9 on my old Blue and White Mac G3? Am I shooting for the stars? Am I asking too many questions? I've been with Logic since the beginning (it used to ship on floppy discs and had no undo function-if you can believe it!).
